Your journey starts with an in-office consultation at our Del Mar, California location. I take the time to understand your situation, listen to your goals and preferences, and discuss the best options tailored to you.
First, I check your mouth and teeth color. Any tartar is removed, teeth are polished, and cavities are filled to ensure optimal conditions for the whitening process.
I’ll apply protective barriers to the cheeks, tongue, lips, and gums. This shields them from the whitening gel. A special protective gel is also applied to the gums and surrounding tissues.
Once the teeth are dry, I’ll apply the teeth whitening gel carefully. This will begin the bleaching process.
I’ll use a WhiteSpeed blue LED light from Zoom to activate the gel. This process helps the gel penetrate the enamel and remove stains. As a result, it turns discolored dentin into a whiter shade.
The process includes applying gel and using light multiple times. There are breaks of about 15 minutes between each round. It usually takes 45 minutes to an hour, depending on your teeth. After the last session, I apply a special fluoride coating to help with tooth sensitivity.
After the whitening, I’ll thoroughly clean your teeth, gums, tongue, and mouth. Then, I’ll check the difference between how your teeth looked before and after. I want to make sure they’re much brighter now.
I give you post-whitening care tips to keep your smile bright. This includes advice on oral hygiene and follow-up appointments. The appointments allow me to check your progress and address any issues.
We schedule appointments with room to breathe. If your wait goes longer than 15 minutes, you’ll get a $15 gift card, along with our sincerest apologies.

Drinking coffee, tea, red wine, grape juice, and cola often can stain teeth. This happens, especially when regular oral hygiene is not maintained. However, chewing sugar-free gum, parsley, or mint can help. These options boost saliva flow, promoting oral cleanliness.
Overdoing teeth whitening or using harsh products can harm your teeth. They dry them out and cause calcium loss from the enamel. This weakens the enamel, leading to sensitivity and decay risk. That’s why it’s best to get your teeth whitening done professionally.
Results from teeth whitening may last six months to three years. The time depends on the treatment type. Lifestyle habits, such as smoking and coffee, may affect how long whitening lasts. This shows the need to consider them before treatment.
Tooth discoloration has many causes. These include aging, coffee and tea, and certain medications. Good oral hygiene and a healthy diet are key to preventing it.
Some people might feel more sensitive to cold after whitening. This usually improves within one to three days. The sensitivity is usually temporary and eases on its own. If it persists, we can offer advice and solutions.
Yes, treatments like whitening, veneers and crowns can make them white again. Remember, your teeth can turn yellow due to age, diet, and poor oral hygiene. You can schedule a free appointment with me, and we’ll find the best option for you.
The most effective method for teeth whitening is professional in-office whitening. This gives fast and noticeable results. Then, you use over-the-counter products monthly for maintenance.
